ERA REAL ESTATE PRESIDENT & CEO JOINS AMERICA'S 'FIRST FAMILY OF FINANCE' IN NATIONAL BROADCAST
Peter Burgdorff Joins 'The Dolans' To Discuss Buying, Selling and Investing Real Estate PARSIPPANY, NJ (June 12, 2001) – ERA Franchise Systems LLC offered consumers throughout the United States valuable advice on one of life's most significant financial decisions – buying or selling a home – when Peter Burgdorff, its president and CEO, appeared as a special guest on "The Dolans," a nationally syndicated radio program featuring America's 'First Family of Finance' Ken and Daria Dolan. Broadcast daily to approximately 200 stations on the WOR Radio Network, The Dolans is a call-in show offering listeners financial advice. As a special guest on the subject of buying, selling and investing in real estate, Burgdorff offered his insight in response to questions from the show's hosts as well as from listeners who called in during the visit. Providing his unique perspective, Burgdorff fielded a variety of questions from callers, ranging from the value of the real estate commission to the best way to approach pre-sale home improvements. Recent advances in technology were also a hot topic, specifically the Internet. Asked if the Internet can substitute for a broker, Burgdorff explained: "The Internet has become a great tool to educate people about purchasing a home. The problem is that the real estate business is complicated and every single house is unique. Also, it's usually someone's most expensive asset, so there are a lot of emotions involved. The Internet isn't the best source to handle the emotions, complexity, and number of players involved in making a transaction happen. However, the Internet has been a great benefit for us as it gives the consumer more information, and helps us provide more value." Burgdorff also discussed current trends in the real estate industry, how to find a broker, purchasing foreclosures, mortgages and the real estate needs of seniors. At the show's end, Daria asked Burgdorff how someone should approach breaking into the real estate industry as an agent. "First and foremost, you need to love people and really care about helping others," replied Burgdorff. "I would strongly suggest interviewing a few brokers and ask them what they are looking for. The great thing about real estate is that there are no limits. You just have to remember you are dealing with people at one of the most stressful times in their lives." In March, ERA launched a partnership with the Dolans to provide endorsement services on an exclusive basis. These endorsements include commercials on their program that are heard by listeners throughout the country.
