FOR HOUSTON AREA ERA® BROKER, REAL ESTATE IS AN ENDS TO PHILANTHROPIC MEANS
Shadrick Bogany demonstrates community leadership as broadcaster, association leader and active supporter of equality in homeownership PARSIPPANY, NJ (November 1, 2001) – For Shadrick Bogany, there's more to the business of real estate brokerage than selling houses. For the owner of ERA® Bogany Properties of Houston, success is measured not solely by the number of units closed and sales volume but also by whether people were helped in the process. In the last four years, by his own count, Bogany estimates that he has helped more than 4,000 minority families purchase homes through educational programs, credit repair initiatives and HUD counseling. In addition to his contact with customers at his company, Bogany reaches out to the community weekly as host of his own radio talk show, "Real Estate Corner," which focuses on promoting affordable housing. His efforts haven't gone unnoticed. Last month, he traveled to Washington, D.C. to be recognized as finalist for a "Home Ownership For Everyone (HOPE)" award, a national program that honors those who strive to create equality in homeownership. ERA Bogany Properties was one of three brokerages out of 200 nominated chosen as finalists. In part due to his community efforts, the 16-year industry veteran was recently elected the 2002 Chairman of the Board by the Houston Association of REALTORS® (HAR). Brenda Casserly, president & COO, ERA Franchise Systems LLC said, "Shadrick Bogany is a wonderful example of how ERA brokers and sales associates throughout the world are committed to eliminating barriers like language and bad credit that can discourage potential homebuyers. Real estate professionals like Shadrick help make the dream of homeownership attainable by as many people as possible, and we're proud he's part of the ERA family." As Bogany continues to help people achieve their dream of homeownership through his radio program and educational seminars, he will also lead fellow colleagues in an initiative to spark new business relationships within the community. As HAR chairman, Bogany is committed to the theme of "Building Bridges" and hopes to forge strong relationships with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Fannie Mae and the Houston Builders Association. "Under the 'Building Bridges' theme, my goal is to strengthen relationships with local businesses that have a common interest, but work separately," said Bogany. "We can all benefit from one another's real estate expertise. Through this initiative, we can create new opportunities for our members that will result in business growth for everyone." While Bogany expects to be busy in his new position with HAR, he remains active in other organizations. Texas Governor Rick Perry recently appointed him to the state Department of Housing and Community Affairs Governing Board. In this position, he will help Texans achieve an improved quality of life through developing better communities. In addition, Bogany serves on the board of the Housing Opportunities of Houston, Inc. and is vice president of the Fort Bend County Housing Finance Corporation. ERA Franchise Systems LLC, a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation (NYSE:CD), is a global leader in the residential real estate industry with nearly 30 years experience in developing consumer-oriented products and services. The ERA Real Estate network includes more than 28,000 brokers and sales associates throughout the United States and 26 other countries and territories.
