Real Estate Network Presents Donation to Help Those In Need PARSIPPANY, NJ, August 28, 2003 – ERA Real Estate, along with celebrities and guests, will help raise millions of dollars to benefit people with neuromuscular diseases during the 2003 Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon to be held in Hollywood, Calif., Aug. 30 through Sept. 1. This year, ERA Real Estate will celebrate its 26th consecutive appearance on the telethon to present contributions raised by its system membership and corporate staff. ERA will present MDA with a check for $429,875. ERA Real Estate began its partnership with MDA in the battle against neuromuscular diseases in 1977. Since then, ERA® member affiliates and corporate staff have raised more than $30 million to fund research and provide services to help more than one million Americans affected by muscular dystrophy. ERA® senior vice president P.J. Martin Smith, who also serves as a MDA national vice president, will appear on the telethon along with Doug Freeman, owner of ERA Freeman & Associates, Realtors in Portland, Ore. Freeman won the prestigious ERA® Ed Bilinkas Memorial Award for the ERA® company raising the most funds for MDA in 2002. Both Martin Smith and Freeman will present their donations to host Jerry Lewis during the 21-and-a-half hour program broadcast by more than 200 television stations to 75 million viewers in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. "Affiliates of ERA Real Estate have long been dedicated to supporting their communities," said Martin Smith. "For nearly three decades, our brokers and sales associates have demonstrated tremendous generosity and compassion by working together to raise money for MDA. Through a variety of fundraising programs, we will continue to make a greater difference in the lives of those affected by neuromuscular diseases." While the telethon always features a mix of corporate sponsors and musical talent, it also serves as a vehicle for educating the public about neuromuscular diseases and the people they affect. The broadcast includes profiles of families living with progressive muscle-degenerating disorders and the progress of MDA-funded research.
